Thomas Fogal - Software Developer (VACET / CIBC)WEB 3622 |
BackgroundThomas received his Computer Science degree from the University of New Hampshire (UNH) in 2006. While an undergraduate he developed tools for visualizing mangetohydrodynamics data. As a graduate student, his interest in parallel rendering was cultured at UNH, Lawrence Livermore, and Oak Ridge national laboratories. Thomas' ongoing thesis is concerned with volume rendering large adaptive (`AMR') meshes. Current ResponsibilitiesThomas has only recently started at SCI, but it is clear he will be involved in maintainence and development of the SCIRun code base. Research InterestsHis interests lie in parallel and distributing computing, with an emphasis towards visualization. In particular, he enjoys finding methods which enable scientists to visualize and understand large scientific datasets. |
