Designed especially for neurobiologists, FluoRender is an interactive tool for multi-channel fluorescence microscopy data visualization and analysis.
Deep brain stimulation
BrainStimulator is a set of networks that are used in SCIRun to perform simulations of brain stimulation such as transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS) and magnetic transcranial stimulation (TMS).
Developing software tools for science has always been a central vision of the SCI Institute.

  • B.S. in Physics, University of Antwerp, Belgium, 1999

Current Responsibilities

I am the lead software developer of the FEBio and FEBio Studio projects (www.febio.org). FEBio is a finite element solver for large deformation, non-linear mechanics, designed specifically for applications in biomechanics and biophysics. I am currently working on efficient iterative solver strategies and the development of a framework for adaptive mesh refinement in FEBio. I am also developing the FEBio Studio software, where my focus is on expanding FEBio Studio’s support of FEBio’s capabilities.

Research Interests

  • Finite element methods
  • Numerical methods in general
  • Computer graphics and visualization
  • Biomechanics, biophysics
