 Rob's Writings
This report from 1992 summarizes the
state of cycling facilities on the University of Utah. It also contains a
list of recommendations for enhancements to the campus. This was very much
a team effort of the University of Utah Bicycle Advisory Committee, which
was in place at the time and for a few years after. I was fortunate
enough to be chair of the committee.
These are links to articles I have written for Cycling Utah (and thanks to
the folks at CU for making them available).

Bikes and Transit
Cycling and mass transit should be natural allies with shared goals--to
reduce the use of automobiles, especially those with only a single
occupant. Here are some links to information and sites describing good
solutions for some of the technical options to mix bikes and transit
effectively.

 Information Sources and Resources
Bike Shops
There are some great bike shops out there and here are just some of my
favorites, mostly local but some discovered during my travels.
  - Contender Bikes , run by
Ryan and Alison Littlefield. This is my go-to shop for everything.
We are lucky to have a shop with such a versatile mix of cycling gear
      and support.

 -

 - Electric Bike Review,
one of the good sites for information about E-bikes, the catagory
that is exploding on the market now. Hard to keep up there is so
      much happening in this sector!

 - Electric bikes, these are
a major new wave with plenty of potential. Of special note, the

Stromer ST-2, which a friend owns, and is available locally
      at Contender BIkes .

 - The Copenhagen
Wheel, a new wheel design that includes motor and battery.

 - Blue Monkey Cycles
a store specializing in electric bikes in Salt Lake City.

 -
Helix Folding Bike , a Canadian product.

 -
      Tandem intercom, from
Precision Tandemsthe most important component on a tandem! I'd
rather leave home without my water bottles than forget this gizmo,
worth every penny! There is also a wireless
version of the intercom that simplifies the problem of being
      wired together.

 -
Cardo Sytesms Bluetooth Intercom is the more packaged solution,
using bluetooth wireless technologies. The reviews have been good,
both this online review and from a couple friends who have purchased
      these.

from Timbik2. Requires Flash enables browser, but very cool.

 - My favorite laptop backpacks
from Spire. I have a Meta and a Zoom. Sadly, this company seems to
be in trouble and I cannot find a US web site for them. A few tweets
claiming they are still running but their fate looks precardious. A
real shame as they really make great bags!!!
