Design Implications for Human-Machine Systems (ME EN 5130)
In this course I explored Human Factors Engineering aspects of design and implications on system performance and various aspects of human interaction with systems, both simple (hand tools) and complex (piloting an aircraft). The course also emphasized human factors engineering principles and the often catastrophic results of poor design with respect to humans in the system.

In this assignment, I chose some items which had good designs and some had bad designs. I made a power point presentation to describe the items, implications and possible improvements that can be made to improve the items.

The final project was title as Netflix Recommendation System. This project proposed a new system, which aims to provide easier and flexible user interface with better visibility and mapping. The proposed user interface provides better rating and recommendation system which takes genre, demographics, MPAA ratings, rank, and rented items into account. The system was developed using Web 2.0 technologies like Ajax and Adobe’s Flex development environment.
