This project was my idea, and upon approching the professor he agreed to guide us in the feild of optimization which was quite new to us at that time. It is a small yet elegant mathematical problem.
Given a rectangular garden, where a particular region user will give us as an input and we know the position of sprinklers. What is the time for which each sprinkler should remain on such as the specified area recieves the optimum water per unit area and the energy consumption is minimum.
