Designed especially for neurobiologists, FluoRender is an interactive tool for multi-channel fluorescence microscopy data visualization and analysis.
Deep brain stimulation
BrainStimulator is a set of networks that are used in SCIRun to perform simulations of brain stimulation such as transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS) and magnetic transcranial stimulation (TMS).
Developing software tools for science has always been a central vision of the SCI Institute.

Background

I am originally from Thakurgaon, a small town in Bangladesh. After completing my schooling there, I ventured to Khulna to study Computer Science and Engineering at Khulna University of Engineering and Technology. I graduated with a Bachelor of Computer Science and Engineering in 2017. I then moved to the capital city of Bangladesh, Dhaka, where I worked as a lecturer of Computer Science at the University of Information Technology and Sciences and Daffodil International University for two years. In 2019, I decided to pursue higher education and came to the United States to obtain a Ph.D. in Computer Science. I began my Ph.D. at the University of Arizona in the Fall of 2019. I later transferred to the University of South Florida in the Fall of 2021 and worked with Dr. Paul Rosen. I spent a fantastic year at USF and graduated with an MS in Computer Science in the Summer of 2022. I then followed Dr. Rosen to the University of Utah in the Fall of 2022, where he joined the Scientific Computing and Imaging Institute (SCI).

Current Responsibilities

  • Researching the use of annotations in visualizations. Examining the ways in which people annotate various chart types, and identifying which annotations are most effective for different chart types.
  • Developing a dashboard for peer review, with the intention of incorporating behavioral nudges to promote more thorough and high-quality feedback.

Research Interests

  • Annotations in Visualizations
  • Perception in Visualizations
  • Trust in Visualizations
  • Human-Computer Interaction
