Background

After spending 12y at the University of Utah, where I had managed various groups in the School of Computing, UIT, and UEN, I left SLC and headed west to spend several years managing software development organizations at Amazon and LinkedIn. Most recently, I created the Privacy and Data Governance organization at LinkedIn, which was a team of ~60 people that built the foundations of data governance at LinkedIn, including a data ontology and metadata graph, privacy compliance (for GDPR, DSA, DMA, etc), compliance management, and privacy monitoring and remediation.

Current Responsibilities

I have strong interests in both academic research and computer infrastructures. As such, I am very interested in understanding the computational needs of researchers, particularly AI and machine learning, and creating new services to make them both highly efficient and easy to use.
