Ph.D. CANDIDATE developing new methods for improving visualization by adding qualitative information. This work focuses on translating the semantic meaning of statistical measures of uncertainty, error, and confidence levels into visual metaphors and incorporating this information into traditional visualization techniques. Application areas include medical visualization, climate modeling, and seismic data analysis. Other research interests include scientific and information visualization, and general graphics including non-photorealistic rendering.
Education: Currently pursuing Ph.D., Computer Science, University of Utah, Expected Decemeber 2009

Experience: Research Assistant, January 2008 - present
Scientific Computing and Imaging Institute, University of Utah
Researching techniques for incorporating uncertainty, error, and confidence information into pre-existing visualization techniques. This work investigates both 2D and 3D datasets through traditional graphical display methods such as the boxplot for 2D and volume rendering for 3D. Responsibilities include examining existing methods and gathering background research, writing code that integrates multiple libraries, and writing research papers. Also pursuing collaborative projects in memory trace visualization, and non-photorealistic rendering.

Graduate Intern, June 2008 - September 2008
Sandia National Laboratories, NM
Pursued research in uncertainty visualization and summary statistics of large datasets.

Research Assistant, August 2000 - December 2007
University of Utah, School of Computing
