=== Information for Our Visiting Science Stakeholders ===

First, thanks for agreeing to take time from your busy schedule to participate in this important planning and get-acquainted meeting.

Second, we need your presence for the first day only -- 1/31/2007. The continuation of the meeting on 2/1/2007 will be for VACET team members only.

Providing solutions responsive to current and future data understanding needs of application scientists is the primary mission of our Center.  To realize that mission, we feel it is important to interact with application scientists to both better understand their visualization needs, as well as for scientists to better understand possible, perhaps previously unknown to the scientist, visualization research techniques that could be productively applied to their data understanding problems.

As such, we ask that you or your delegate deliver a presentation at our meeting. Most of these presentations are roughly 20-25 minutes in length, leaving 5-10 minutes for discussion (see [[Agenda 1/31/2007]] for specific time slots). Rather than have you give a typical research presentation, we would like for you to use the following outline to tell us about your project and data understanding and visualization needs: 

* SciDAC2 Project Overview:  Who are your team leaders?  What are the major scientific goals of your project?

* Current Visualization and Analysis Tools:  What visualization and analysis tools do you currently use?  What are the most successful tools? What is your current computational and analysis workflow? What are the current frustrations or obstacles in using your current tools?  What computing platforms do you usually use for visualization and analysis?

* Future Needs and Collaborations:  What are visualization techniques that you might like to use but don’t (because of unavailability of software, etc.)?  What are features that you would like to visualize (better, faster, at all) or track?  How can VACET best help you better understand your data?

One nice thing about using Marratech it it's whiteboard feature that allows everyone to see presentation slides on their own screen and it keeps everyone on the same page. (Slides must be converted to PDF, but I (erikj[at]sci.utah.edu) will be happy to do that for you.)

In order to join the video conference, you will need a web cam and the Marratech client. The client is available for free at the Marratech website. From there click "Downloads" on the purple bar and then click "Do It Now..."
