Dr. Wei Xing is a postdoctoral fellow in the Scientific Computing and Imaging Institute (SCI) at the University of Utah since October 2017. He earned his Ph.D. degree in Engineering from the University of Warwick in June 2017. Prior to joining SCI, he worked as a postdoctoral fellow and research assistant in the University of Warwick. In 2012, he received his B.Sc. in control system and automation from Shenzhen University in China.

Current Responsibilities

Wei's current research and development is focused on:
• Design space exploration and visualization of topology optimization
• Surrogate modelling
• Generative modelling for shape/topology optimization

Research Interests

Wei had experiences in model order reduction, scientific computing, uncertainty quantification, manifold learning and Bayesian modelling. He is now very keen on exploring machine learning methods for solving problems in engineering and scientific computing. Some topics of interest are:

• Gaussian process
• Deep neural network
• Manifold learning
• Bayesian numerical method
