BackgroundI have a B.Sc. (2000) and a M.Sc. (2003) Degree in Computer Science and a Ph.D. (2007) in Mathematical Computation all from Universidade Federal de Pernambuco (UFPE), in Brazil. My master's was about an algorithm designed for the problem of finding rectangle packings. My Ph.D. thesis was about an elegant way of presenting 3-dimensional, closed and oriented spaces as plane graphs named blinks. While I was having my academic formation, I also was the developer director of LinSoft, a company that develops softwares, mainly for industries. The ingredients to these softwares were: math/algorithms (linear programming, mixed integer programming, dynamic programming, combinatorial algorithms), programming (java, delphi, c), databases (mysql, sql server, derby), graphical user interfaces (java swing/awt, delphi), software engineering (object-oriented designs, uml). Current ResponsibilitiesI am currently working on an information visualization system called DEFOG: Data Exploration with Faces Objects and Groups. DEFOG is an environment to visually and programatically explore data. It is a general and flexible tool that is becoming the basic platform for a set of different projects we are currently working on in our group and in collaboration with other institutions. I am also starting to work in visual and interactive techniques to track topological time changes in combustion simulations. Research InterestsTo apply mathematics and computer science to solve interesting problems is my main general interest. With this general spirit in mind, today, my specific interests are graph algorithms, combinatorial optimization techniques, visualization algorithms (graphs), information viusalization interactive systems. |
