Eric Carruth - Undergraduate Research Assistant - MRL LabMEB 2460 |
BackgroundI'm a Junior in Bioengineering. I have done research with Bob Hitchcock and Frank Sachse working with confocal images of cardiac tissue and cells. I love to waterski, air chair, play ultimate frisbee, hike, bike (mountain or road), and listen to and play music.Current ResponsibilitiesCurrently I'm involved in Dr. Jeff Weiss' lab performing manual segmentation of CT scan images of the human hip for simulating contact pressures in normal and diseased states. I'm excited to be able to study orthopedics research more closely and hope I can contribute a lot and learn even more.Research InterestsSo far, I've been involved in cardiac and now orthopedic research. Both of these areas are top priority research areas for me. I've also had an interest in materials. It's fascinating to me to learn about how the heart functions and how it is affected by disease, about how our bones and muscles allow us to move, and the possibility of helping restore those functions to individuals is exciting to me. |
