Background

I received my BS in Applied Math and Computer Science from UC Berkeley in 1992. In 1993, I began attending Graduate School in Computer Science at the University if Utah. I joined the SCI group in 1994, and pursued my PhD under Dr. Chris Johnson. In 1998, I wrote a position for myself on the NCRR grant application we submitted to the NIH. When our proposal was funded in 1999, I assumed the position of Technical Manager for that grant. I recieved my PhD in Computer Science in 2003.

Current Responsibilities

As the Technical Manager for our NIH NCRR Center, I coordinate the research and development efforts for the grant. There are several primary thrusts of this work:

  • Design, develop, disseminate, and support BioPSE - a problem solving environment for research into Bioelectric Field problems.
  • Research novel modeling, simulation, and visualization methods for Bioelectric Field problems.
  • Develop and maintain an archive of gold-standard datasets for Bioelectric Field research.

Coordinating these efforts is a full-time job that I absolutely love.

Research Interests

  • Computational Modeling for Bioelectric Field Problems.
  • Visualization and Modeling Methods for Neuroanatomy.
