Position Announcement Computational Statistics Faculty Position Location: Main Campus Description: The University of Utah's Scientific Computing and Imaging Institute seeks applicants for tenure-track faculty positions at the level of assistant or associate professor in the area of Computational Probability, Computational Statistics and Computational Biostatistics. Applicants should have earned a Ph.D. in Statistics, Biostatistics, or a closely related field. The successful candidate will be expected to work with engineers and clinical researchers in the Scientific Computing and Imaging Institute and Brain Institute at the University of Utah. The applicant should have a demonstrated track record in one or more of the following areas: the design of clinical studies, analysis of imaging studies in the context of biological experiments or medical studies, applications of statistics to areas of scientific computing and analysis of error, novel research in the area of computational statistics and an interest in technology commercialization. The successful candidate will have a tenure track appointment in the Colleges of Engineering, Sciences, and/or Medicine. This position is part of the Utah Science, Technology and Research Initiative (USTAR) which was funded by the Utah State Legislature to attract focused teams of outstanding researchers who have the potential helping build major research programs and creating new technology that can ultimately lead to commercial products and/or new industries for Utah. The Scientific Computing and Imaging Institute is known for its pioneering role in scientific computing, visualization, and multidimensional image analysis. The institute includes large, multi-investigator efforts addressing large-scale problems of significant impact in the above areas, as well as a number of individual investigator research activities. Research areas and course offerings benefit from the quality and breadth of our faculty and emphasize interdisciplinary research in which fundamental research in applied to important problems in diverse fields such biology, physiology, medicine, defense, and energy.
