Responsibilities

The Scientific Computing and Imaging (SCI) Institute at the University of Utah invites applications for a post-doctoral researcher for interdisciplinary work in the intersection of image analysis, geometric modeling, biomedical simulation and imaging, numerical methods, and scientific visualization. Experience and interest in two or more of these areas is an important consideration.

This position is supported by the NIH Center for Biomedical Computing (CIBC). The successful candidate will perform research in image analysis, geometric modeling, biomedical simulation and/or visualization and work closely with SCI Institute researchers and external collaborators to integrate research into SCI Institute software applications and apply this software to compelling problems in biomedicine, science, and engineering. The SCI Institute is seeking a highly talented and committed individual with a demonstrated ability to work well with minimal supervision in a multi-disciplinary research environment.

The successful candidate will contribute to the Institutes world-class research and software development in scientific visualization and have the opportunity to develop their research, publication, and presentation skills under mentorship from established faculty investigators.

Non-Technical Skills: Excellent oral and written communication skills are mandatory. A willingness to collaborate in a highly diverse, multi-disciplinary environment is also essential.

Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in computer science, biomedical, electrical, or computer engineering or a closely related field.
  • Expert knowledge in image analysis, geometric modeling, biomedical simulation and/or scientific visualization
  • Advanced programming skills in C++, OpenGL, and scripting languages
