Tumor in Lung Visualized from 4D CT Data with BioImage

High performance CT scanners introduce artifacts when imaging moving objects. Objects can be grossly distorted, leading to a possible gometric miss. Respiratory correlated CT (4D CT) is a new imaging technique that provides images of anatomy at specific moments during respiration. This information is essential in accurately targeting tumors and avoiding normal tissues in image guided radiotherapy. The challenge is to visualize, segment, and quantify organ motion seen in 4D CT. 4D dynamic visualization through volume rendering is a key technology to provide radiation oncologists with time varying anatomical and dosimetric image data.
