Epinome is an internet-based data visualization system designed specifically to accommodate infectious disease surveillance, management, and control.

The overall objective is to develop, implement, and evaluate a user-centric integrated visual analytic and decision support systems to enhance core public health missions of prevention, protection, and promotion of healthy behavior. The scope of this project encompasses community health assessment, integrated public health surveillance, and outbreak investigation.

The DSIDE Research Team from the University of Utah, Virginia Bioinformatics Institute, and Michigan School of Public Health, worked together to create these simulations based on analysis of historical numbers, published mathematical models, and input from experts in both theoretical infectious disease epidemiology and from those who have worked in in-field infectious disease investigations.
