Theresa-Marie Rhyne Presents:

Applying Color Theory to CG & VIS

April 11, 2018 at 12:00pm for 1hr
Evans Conference Room, WEB 3780
Warnock Engineering Building, 3rd floor.

SHORT BIO: Theresa-Marie Rhyne is consultant and author of the CRC Press book on "Applying Color Theory to Digital Media and Visualization". She has consulted for the Scientific Computing and Imaging Institute (SCI) at the University of Utah on applying color theory to biological and ensemble visualizations. Prior to her consulting, she founded two visualization centers, one at the United States Environmental Protection Agency in Research Triangle Park, North Carolina and the second as the Renaissance Computing Institute's Engagement Facility at North Carolina State University (RENCI@NCSU).

Abstract:

We highlight how the foundations of color theory apply to building effective computer graphics and visualizations. Additionally, we discuss how mobile devices are advancing to address the full range of color spaces and provide a brief overview of recent color research in the IEEE VIS, ACM SIG CHI, and ACM SIGGRAPH communities.
